2018 BMW X2 vs 2018 BMW X1
Serving Atlanta
The new BMW X2 joins the X Series of luxury Sport Activity Vehicles that provide fun-to-drive performance in capable and versatile crossover SUV formats. It joins the X1 and X3 models in the smaller-sized contingent of the X lineup. All provide superior handling and aggressive styling in three unique interpretations.
Performance
All three models feature a version of BMW’s respected 2.0-liter turbo 4 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The X1 and X2 deliver 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, good for a zero-to-60 mph time of 6.3 seconds. The larger X3’s turbo-4 produces 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, but you can also upgrade to a 3.0-liter turbo-6 that outputs 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft for a zero-to-60 time of 4.6 seconds. The X2 offers three driving modes (Sport, Comfort and ECO Pro), and offers the stiffer M Sport suspension.
Appearance
All three vehicles present a muscular, aggressive appearance, starting with the iconic BMW kidney grille. Although the X2 shares its platform with the X1, it is a lower and more streamlined vehicle. You can increase its aggressiveness with the M Sport version, with unique bumper fascias fore and aft, and contrasting fenders and lower body skirts. Also, look for the BMW roundel badge on the X2’s C-pillar, evoking memories of BMW coupes past. The X2 offers stylish alloy wheels in sizes from 18 to 20 inches, as well as LED headlights with cornering lights, and LED fog lights. The X3 has a cohesive design and wheel sizes up to 21 inches. X1 is distinguished by its 8.1 inches of ground clearance.
Safety
All X-Series vehicles are equipped with advanced safety and security features, such as the SOS button on BMW Assist eCall, and four free years of roadside assistance. Look for these standard and optional safety features: automatic emergency braking, active cruise control, lane-departure warning, frontal collision warning, rearview monitor and rain-sensing wipers. X2 optional safety items include run-flat tires, head-up display and parking assistant.
