Serving Atlanta, GA

If you want to drive a commanding vehicle that has a large presence on the road, consider owning an upscale luxury SUV. Luxury cars are built with advanced technology both in the cabin and under the hood and are designed to stand out in their class. If you're ready to drive a new car that you can show off, there are a few features to compare between the 2019 BMW X7 and the 2019 Mercedes GLS.

Exterior Features

The 2019 BMW X7 is a full-size SUV that is nine inches longer than its predecessor and has a five-inch wheelbase. The chrome kidney grille is dominant on the exterior of the car and still looks classy. A squared-off greenhouse in the rear also contributes to the exterior styling while boosting the amount of space that is provided in the back of the cabin. The headlights are also thin and look sharp, which creates a fierce and edgy design.

The exterior of the 2019 Mercedes GLS is sharp and sophisticated with LED lighting, 19 to 22-inch wheels, and a muscular body that is aerodynamic. Although there's nothing to dislike about the exterior styling, the car takes few risks, which causes it to look similar to many of its rivals and not much different than its previous model. Elegant headlamps contribute to the upscale design of the car but don't look as sharp as what you'll find on the X7.

All-wheel drive comes standard on the new BMW X7, which allows it to tackle different types of terrain with power that is delivered to all four wheels. The SUV accelerates quickly and has the ability to tow up to 7,500 pounds with a factory hitch installed. A Dynamic handling package is also offered and includes rear-wheel steering, upgraded brakes, and an electronically controlled rear differential. The body roll is also well-managed compared to the Mercedes GLS.

Driving the new GLS is enjoyable with all-wheel-drive that comes standard, which makes the car versatile in different driving situations. Radar-based Active Brake Assist is a feature that can reduce the risk of an accident, along with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC® cruise control. The vehicle proves to have a high level of performance but doesn't drive as smoothly as the X7.

Interior Features

BMW doesn't compromise with the tech tools and gadgets that are included in the X7 and is built with a three-panel panoramic sunroof, a new digital gauge cluster, a four-zone climate control system, front and rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, a touchscreen infotainment system, iDrive controller knob, gesture control, voice control, Apple CarPlay, and Open Mobility Cloud digital platform. As the largest BMW ever built, the SUV offers plenty of head- and legroom to ensure that all passengers are accommodated and fit comfortably.

Riding in the 2019 Mercedes GLS proves to be comfortable with heated front seats, a reclining second row, a panoramic sunroof, animated menus on the 8-inch touchscreen, rear-seat entertainment, and smartphone connectivity. Fewer advanced features come standard in the GLS compared to the X7, which affects the SUV's overall value. Fortunately, many of the features in the vehicle can be controlled by a smartphone for added convenience while on the go.
