All three models are available in several trims and with multiple powertrain options. The entry-level X3 for 2020 is powered by a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo, an inline-4 engine that produces 248 horsepower. A 3.3-liter TwinPower Turbo, V6 engine that gives you 382 horsepower, is also available. In addition to these two gas-powered options, the X3 is available with a hybrid powertrain. In comparison, the 2020 BMW X5 and X7 are offered with the same two gas powertrain options across their trim lineups. The more powerful engine offered in these two models is a 4.4-liter, TwinPower Turbo V8 M Performance engine that produces 523 horsepower. The most apparent visual difference between these three models is in their dimensions, but they all show off the same overall design elements with subtle variations. For example, they all have vertical bars running through their bow-like grille, but the shape and size of the grille are individualized. The X3's grille is broken up by a body-colored element that runs down the middle. All three models also have multi-elemental style elements in their angled headlights, but the shape of the headlights is unique. Across the sides of these three SUVs, you will see modest contouring that varies in intensity and curvature.

As the flagship SUV, the BMW X7 has a few features that are not available in the lower trim levels. These include electric seats for all rows, remote engine start, a wireless hotspot, soft-close doors, and more. All three models share many desired features, such as leather seating with heat, a Harman Kardon sound system, Apple CarPlay, a powered sunroof, key memory, voice recognition, keyless ignition, a navigation system and more. Specific equipment in each model is trim-specific.
