The 2017 BMW 5 Series has been teased for quite some time now, with automotive press gauntlets catching the car out testing every so often. Now, it’s been unveiled in classic Bavarian fashion with an official reveal, and a launch film. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg, friends, so read on to learn more about what’s new in BMW’s latest executive sedan.

The new 5 Series takes a lot, visually, at least, from the 7 Series’ handbook. The new car is 137 pounds lighter than the outgoing model, while somehow managing to be wider, taller, and longer by several inches. Chalk it up to BMW engineering wizardry, we suppose. Also new are the four and six-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engines, the power figures of which have yet to be released. Its also been announced that M performance parts will be available on launch day!
